Alaska Fishing Calendar


King Salmon First run: mid-May to early July. Second run: Early July to season closure on July 31
Sockeye Salmon First run: late May to early July. Second run: Mid-July to Mid August
Coho Salmon First run: late July to late August. Second run: Early September through Coho season Closure on November 30
Rainbow Trout June 11th through April 14th
Dolly Varden June 11th through April 14th
Pink Salmon Late July through mid-August on every even year.


Here are some options for you to go by

May
King Salmon – Kenai River, Kasilof River, Ninilchik, Deep Creek, Anchor River and the Offshore trolling in Cook Inlet
Halibut – Cook Inlet Waters (Combo King Salmon/Halibut Charters)

June
King Salmon – Kenai River, Kasilof River, Ninilchik, Deep Creek, Anchor River and Fly-outs to the Chuit River.
Sockeye Salmon – Upper Kenai River at Russian River opens (June 15) and Wolverine Creek Fly-outs
Halibut – Cook Inlet Waters
Rainbow Trout/Dolly Varden – Mouth of Kenai River to Lower Skilak Lake opens (June11th thru May1st) with the best times being in June, August, September & October

July
King Salmon – Kenai and Kasilof Rivers
Sockeye Salmon - Kenai River, Kasilof River, Russian River, and Fly-outs
Silver Salmon – Kenai River and Kasilof River (last week of July) and Fly-outs
Halibut – Cook Inlet Waters
Rainbow Trout/Dolly Varden – Lower and Upper Kenai River
Combo Halibut, Ling Cod, Yellow Eye and Sea Bass – Homer or Seward

August
Silver Salmon – Kenai River, Kasilof River and Fly-outs, Kenai and Kasilof rivers peak around Mid Month
Sockeye Salmon – Mid and Upper Kenai River
Halibut – Cook Inlet Waters
Rainbow Trout/ Dolly Varden – Lower, Mid and Upper Kenai River with the Lower and Mid being the best
Combo Halibut, Ling Cod, Yellow Eye and Sea Bass – Homer or Seward

September
Silver Salmon – Kenai River, Kasilof River, Fly-outs
Halibut – Cook Inlet Waters
Rainbow Trout/ Dolly Varden – Mid and Upper Kenai River with the Mid and Upper being great
Combo Halibut, Ling Cod, Yellow Eye and Sea Bass – Homer or Seward

October
Silver Salmon – Kenai River
Halibut – To Much Bad Weather
Rainbow Trout/ Dolly Varden – Mid and Upper Kenai River with the Mid and Upper being excellent fishing
